Food Oil Factory Čepin

This project comprises the comprehensive modernisation, reconstruction and extension of an existing production complex for edible oils intended for food and general human consumption. SIRRAH projekt was involved from the concept stage through the construction phase, allowing the architectural and technical documentation to develop continuously alongside the requirements of the production process.

The intervention brings new facilities, process structures, silos, tanks and storage areas into an established industrial environment. This requires careful coordination between existing operations and new construction, particularly where production flows, servicing, structural systems and installations intersect. The design organises the various vertical and horizontal elements into a coherent working complex while maintaining the clear access routes and maintenance zones required by heavy industrial equipment.

The portfolio lists daily processing capacities of 600 tonnes of sunflower, 500 tonnes of ‘beets’ and 450 tonnes of soy. These figures, reproduced as stated in the source, indicate the demanding scale of material handling and the importance of efficient relationships between intake, processing, storage and dispatch. The architecture is therefore driven primarily by operational logic, but attention is also given to the visual order of the plant and to the integration of new elements with existing structures.

The project covers a stated area of 210,000 square metres and represents an investment of approximately €9 million. It demonstrates the practice’s experience in complex industrial reconstruction, where the challenge is not simply to design a new building but to upgrade a functioning production system. The result is intended to improve technological capacity, reliability and long-term usability while creating a more coherent and contemporary industrial environment.
